It seems like just the other day I was wracking my brain about how to fit an entire story into just 200 words. And then I hear there is the opportunity to do it again, but with half the words! Well, after having such a positive experience with the Fall Writing Frenzy, I couldn't resist. So I snatched up my notebook, found a cozy spot and stared at a blank page for hours. I hemmed and I hawed and I hemmed some more. This was hard! The open endedness of it all was almost too much for me. Luckily, after some brainstorming and a detour down a way too sinister road for this contest, I landed in a darkish, yet kid-friendly land that I am pleased to share.
A-HUNTIN'
The moon is bright,
tonight’s the night.
I’m dying to go a-huntin’.
Might be too old
for trick-or-treats,
but not for going huntin’.
Out the door and
on the street.
Ready for a-huntin’.
Skeletal friends,
blending in.
Here we go a-huntin’.
Hungry breath
beneath our masks.
Time to start a-huntin’.
Trick-or-treaters;
unaware
that they’re being hunted.
Creep up slow,
nowhere to go.
Little hands,
hold candy tight.
Pulling...
pulling...
back
and
forth.
Just.
Let.
Go.
Wrappers surround.
Lay on the ground.
We’re all done a-huntin’.
In a pre-release discussion, Oris has said that the link purpose of the design is to "solve problems," and not just have an in-house movement for the sake of having an in-house movement. link The long power reserve is intended as a convenience for the owner who is likely to have other watches (from Oris, one hopes) and who may wish to find a given watch still running after having it off the wrist for a few days, without link going to the expense and trouble of buying a winder.
So there you go, you took a NATO and essentially link made it into a DIY-ZULU strap. Could you just buy a single pass nylon strap like a ZULU? Yes. But if you already had a NATO lying around, then I kinda just saved you like twenty bucks (cha-ching). Would I link normally recommend cutting your watch strap to get the most out of it? No. But NATOs are cheap, and I think this cut link can be made with little to no concern for anything other than comfort. After all, I'm your pal, and I want you to be comfy.
I started crying. I felt like I link let my brother down. "I'll never be able to face him again," I sobbed. link My parents felt bad and told me not to worry about it. "I'll get you a new one at Filene's when we get home," link my mom said.
